Inspiration Board: Audrey’s Paris Inspired Sabrina

Julia Ormand did a remake in 1995, but the original Sabrina was Audrey Hepburn in 1954. Starring alongside Humphrey Bogart and William Holden, Audrey’s turn in Sabrina was the vehicle that created a lifelong friendship between Hepburn and French Designer Hubert de Givenchy.  THE dress (pictured below in left-side photo) was a creation by Givenchy that nearly any woman would love to own!

Paris Inspired Sabrina!

From Top Left And Across

The Favors: Its all about the food but more specifically the dessert. So let’s make the favor a sweet treat and Parisian favorite! Macaroons come in several flavors and you can package a trio of flavors for each guest! Photo Courtesy of Opera Patisserie, San Diego, Ca

The Bridesmaids: Its not just about the silhouette, but also the neckline!  A Bateau Neckline (which is also referred to as a Boat Neck or Sabrina Neckline) is the best choice.  Its so Audrey and so Sabrina!  Photo Courtesy of Brides.com - Aria Gown

The Bride: Nothing can compare to the original…unless you’re doing a direct copy and if you are can I have one too!  But I must say that this evokes the spirit of the gown and is a lovely interpretation.  Photo Courtesy of TheKnot.com - Sposa Pucchi Gown

The Bouquet: We’re going French Countryside here.  The loose, just-picked style is very French and very modern.  Love it!  Photo Found on Style Me Pretty - Bouquet by Interieurs et Fleurs - Photo by Kate Headley

The Cake: The traditional French Wedding Cake is actually a Croquembouche; which is a tower of cream puffs!  The French sure do know how to do dessert!  Photo Courtesy of Patisserie du Soleil, San Diego CA

The Invitations: Simplicity is key.  Accents are what define this French-Inspired set of wedding stationery.  Photo Courtesy of Wedding Paper Divas

The Venue: Not quite Parisian or French, but the final scene of Sabrina takes place on a ship as Sabrina sales back to Paris.  So why not host your festivities on a yacht!  Photo Courtesty of San Diego Harbor Excursions - The California Spirit

Inspiration Board: Audrey’s Roman Holiday

Audrey Hepburn and Roman Holiday

I adore Audrey Hepburn.  She’s an icon who was also a class act and great humanitarian.  She’s inspired designers for decades and made the little black dress iconic, but her many other films demonstrate a variety of styles that are just as classic.

She was also recently deemed the greatest Hollywood beauty (read article here) topping the list above Angelina Jolie (2nd place) and Grace Kelly (3rd place).  So its only fitting that she be an inspiration for wedding style!  This is the first installment of Audrey inspired Inspiration Boards!

Audrey’s Roman Holiday

This board is of course inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s film Roman Holiday.  The wedding dress by Maggie Sottero was chosen because of its similarity in style in Princess Ann’s dress (top image above).  Jewelry and hairstyle are all reminiscent of Audrey’s Princess Anne. The bridesmaids dress evokes the outfit worn by Audrey (bottom image above) and is also very modern & chic!  We cannot forget the Vespa which you can use for sweetheart photos, as a prop for guestbook photos, and your getaway “car” at the end of the night!  To really go full circle, take your reception outdoors and go with an old Italy theme with everything from the decor to the food.
