Inspiration Board: Audrey’s Paris Inspired Sabrina

Julia Ormand did a remake in 1995, but the original Sabrina was Audrey Hepburn in 1954. Starring alongside Humphrey Bogart and William Holden, Audrey’s turn in Sabrina was the vehicle that created a lifelong friendship between Hepburn and French Designer Hubert de Givenchy.  THE dress (pictured below in left-side photo) was a creation by Givenchy that nearly any woman would love to own!

The Favors: Its all about the food but more specifically the dessert. So let’s make the favor a sweet treat and Parisian favorite! Macaroons come in several flavors and you can package a trio of flavors for each guest! Photo Courtesy of Opera Patisserie, San Diego, Ca

The Bridesmaids: Its not just about the silhouette, but also the neckline!  A Bateau Neckline (which is also referred to as a Boat Neck or Sabrina Neckline) is the best choice.  Its so Audrey and so Sabrina!  Photo Courtesy of Brides.com - Aria Gown

The Bride: Nothing can compare to the original…unless you’re doing a direct copy and if you are can I have one too!  But I must say that this evokes the spirit of the gown and is a lovely interpretation.  Photo Courtesy of TheKnot.com - Sposa Pucchi Gown

The Bouquet: We’re going French Countryside here.  The loose, just-picked style is very French and very modern.  Love it!  Photo Found on Style Me Pretty - Bouquet by Interieurs et Fleurs - Photo by Kate Headley

The Cake: The traditional French Wedding Cake is actually a Croquembouche; which is a tower of cream puffs!  The French sure do know how to do dessert!  Photo Courtesy of Patisserie du Soleil, San Diego CA

The Invitations: Simplicity is key.  Accents are what define this French-Inspired set of wedding stationery.  Photo Courtesy of Wedding Paper Divas

The Venue: Not quite Parisian or French, but the final scene of Sabrina takes place on a ship as Sabrina sales back to Paris.  So why not host your festivities on a yacht!  Photo Courtesty of San Diego Harbor Excursions - The California Spirit

Inspiration Board: Wild Wedding

I like to take a particular idea/concept/style and infuse it throughout an event in the details.  Going over the top and having the event decked in animal print would at every turn would be fine…but its just not how I would do it.  My idea, though, is that you can combine all sorts of animal prints and create a cohesive style!  Here are a selection of details I would go for.

Top Left and Across

The Invitations: Zebra Print Invites set the initial tone.  Found on Ephemera Blog

The Decor: Varied Animal Print Votives.  Found on AllForYourWedding.com

The Cake: You could do each layer a different animal print….but I like simplicity better.  Leopard print bands are an elegant touch here.  Found on Sweetretreat

The Bridal Jewelry: Kenneth Lane Crystal Pave Animal Print Cuff…a lovely accent that makes a statement without overpowering the bride’s ensemble.  Found on Avelle - The New Bag Borrow and Steal

The Bridesmaids: Love the look!  But I would reverse the dress and shoes…black dress with red shoes!  But of course keep the belt.  You could even have each girl with a different print belt!  Found on LasFashionistas Blog

The Guys: I often neglect the fellas, but here’s a little something for you!  You COULD wear an animal print bow tie, but somehow I don’t think that would go over too well.  Instead, accent with a nice pair of cuff links.  Found on Etsy.com

The Bouquets: This bouquet has a very slim ribbon accent…I would be more bold.  Single color for the followers but I would have the stems wrapped entirely in black and then criss-cross the animal print ribbon all the way down!  Found on JillianandMatt.com - A couple’s wedding website!

Inspiration Board: Matrimony by Mondrian

I majored in Art History in college (because I firmly believed I lacked any talent to be an Art Major).  So I get all kinds of kicks out of art inspired anything that you can really see what the source of inspiration was.  So rather than say “Hey!  Let’s do a Mondrian inspired wedding and use the colors blue, red and yellow!” these ideas actually use Mondrian-like prints and qualities.

The Source of Inspiration: A painting by Piet Mondrian Found on Essential Architecture

First, let me say that my vision for this wedding be simple with pitch perfect details. The tables would be long banquets (no rounds!) with white linens and black runners. The chairs would be black chiavarris with white cushions. Then we would accent with a Mondrian print. The invitations and all other stationery would be white with a Mondrian block pattern and a black border. And then…

From Top Left Across
The Bride’s Dress: I know this may be “so last season” but it is beyond perfect for what we would want to achieve here. Its a structured Ralph Lauren gown (Mondrian had an architecture-like sensibility to his work) and the black satin trim creates an effect that evokes the painting. All the bride needs is a true red bouquet and she’s set! Found on ABC News / Photo Credit: Mario Anzuoni (Reuters)

Centerpieces: These would certainly be a splurge but would look extremely elegant on the tables.  There are actually three vase styles so you could alternate down the table!  I would also use smaller square glass arrangements in between to break it up.  Found on DotMaison.com

The Bouquet - Part One: This is the effect we want for the bouquet.  The solid black ribbon around the stems and one single flower in a single color.  As I mentioned before, for the bride I would punch it up and do red flowers!  Found on Martha Stewart Weddings

The Cake - LOVE IT!  You must go square for the cake.  Its all about the lines.  This bakery did a fantastic job in getting the pattern right…I would stick to the basic colors though (red, blue and yellow).  Found on Newport Weddings Blog / Cake by Cakes to Remember

The Bouquet - Part Two: Another fine sample of what we want to achieve.  Solid black band for the stems and a single type of slower in a perfect shade of yellow!  Perfect for the bride or the bridesmaids.  Found on The Bride’s Cafe

The Votives: So technically these are tumblers for drinking, but they would make perfect candle holders!  Use sparingly and sprinkle throughout the room.  You could also buy solid votive holders in blue, red and yellow.  But these are more fun!  Found on MoMa Store

The Bridesmaids: We really want a similar effect for the bridesmaids as we have fro the bride.  This ABS dress has a nice structure to it and the simplicity of it allows you to  accent it however you choose.  I would have each girl wear different colored shoes (one in red, one in yellow, one in blue).  Found on Bluefly.com

The Bouquet: I love the variety of greens and textures in this bouquet. And if you are Irish you can sprinkle shamrocks throughout! Found on TheKnot.com / Credits: Bridal Bouquet by Andrea Soorikian, Santa Fe Photo By Jane Bernard, Santa Fe

The Jewels: Also known as the Emerald Isle, its only appropriate to sport an Emerald if you’re going Irish for the day!  Found on Ice.com

The Decor: No need to overdo it, but if you’re trying to bring in Irish pieces then also sprinkle some shamrocks through your centerpieces.

The Cake: If you haven’t figured out my love of cupcakes by now then shame on you!  I loved this cupcake / cake combo in a lovely shade of green.  Found on LaDivinaEvents.com

The Bridesmaids: Flirty & Fun…a lovely dress choice for any bridesmaid!  Found on DonnaRicco.com

The Invitations: Again, no need to overdo it.  I love the simiplicity of this invitation that still bring the color theme front and center.  Found on WeddingPaperDivas.com

THE SHOES: I do have a thing for shoes…which is why almost every board features a fab pair!  This time is the Alexander McQueen Peep Toe Heels in green!  So beautiful.  Found on BrownsFashion.com

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
